« SOUS SON CONTRÔLE »

Toutes les circonstances de la vie, petites ou grandes, devraient être pour le chrétien l’occasion de sentir la main sage et pleine d’amour de son Père céleste. Qu’il m’arrive quelque chose d’heureux ou de triste, Dieu aimerait que j’envisage tout comme un message de sa part.

Avant d’ouvrir mon courrier, je peux me demander: “Qu’est-ce que Dieu veut m’apprendre?” On m’annonce une visite: “Que vais-je recevoir – ou apporter – de la part de Dieu?” À plus forte raison s’il s’agit d’un événement important, je chercherai à le vivre avec Dieu. Je dois subir une opération: il veut m’apprendre à me confier davantage en lui. Dieu me donne un enfant: suis-je prêt à l’élever pour lui? Un être cher m’est enlevé: il veut partager ma peine et me faire éprouver la réalité de ses consolations.

Tout ce qui se passe sur la terre – changements politiques, bouleversements économiques, catastrophes naturelles – est, au fond, sous son contrôle; rien ne doit me laisser indifférent. Satan cherche à priver le croyant d’une telle conviction, à me persuader que les circonstances de la vie sont dues à la fatalité, alors que rien ne m’arrive sans la volonté souveraine de mon Dieu.

Commençons chacune de nos journées avec cette pensée gravée dans notre esprit: Dieu est présent dans tout ce qui va m’arriver. Demandons au Seigneur: “Fais-moi entendre dès le matin ta bonté”. Puis, tout le long du jour: “Fais-moi connaître le chemin où j’ai à marcher” (Psaume 143. 8).

« UNDER HIS CONTROL »

All circumstances of life, small or large, should be for the Christian the opportunity to feel the wise and loving hand of his heavenly Father. Whether something happy or sad happens to me, God would like me to think of it as a message from him.

Before I open my mail, I can ask myself, “What does God want to teach me?” I am told a visit: “What will I receive – or bring – from God?” Even more so if it is an important event, I will seek to live it with God. I have to undergo an operation: he wants to teach me to trust me more in him. God gives me a child: Am I ready to raise him for him? A loved one is taken away from me: he wants to share my pain and make me feel the reality of his consolations.

Everything that happens on earth – political changes, economic upheavals, natural disasters – is basically under its control; nothing should leave me indifferent. Satan seeks to deprive the believer of such conviction, to persuade me that the circumstances of life are due to fate, whereas nothing happens to me without the sovereign will of my God.

Let’s start each of our days with this thought engraved in our mind: God is present in all that will happen to me. Let us ask the Lord: “Make me hear your kindness in the morning”. Then, all day long: “Let me know the way I have to walk” (Psalm 143. 8).

«UNTER SEINER KONTROLLE »

Alle Lebensumstände, ob klein oder groß, sollten für den Christen die Gelegenheit sein, die weise und liebevolle Hand seines himmlischen Vaters zu spüren. Ob etwas Fröhliches oder Trauriges mit mir geschieht, Gott möchte, dass ich es als eine Botschaft von ihm betrachte.
Bevor ich meine Post öffne, kann ich mich fragen: “Was will Gott mir beibringen?” Mir wird ein Besuch empfohlen: “Was werde ich von Gott bekommen oder bringen?” Mehr noch, wenn es ein wichtiges Ereignis ist, werde ich versuchen, es mit Gott zu leben. Ich muss mich einer Operation unterziehen: Er will mich lehren, mir mehr zu vertrauen. Gott schenkt mir ein Kind: Bin ich bereit, ihn für ihn aufzuziehen? Ein geliebter Mensch wird von mir genommen: Er möchte meinen Schmerz teilen und mir die Realität seiner Tröstungen spüren lassen.
Alles, was auf der Erde geschieht – politische Veränderungen, wirtschaftliche Umwälzungen, Naturkatastrophen – ist grundsätzlich unter seiner Kontrolle; Nichts sollte mich gleichgültig lassen. Satan versucht, den Gläubigen einer solchen Überzeugung zu berauben, um mich davon zu überzeugen, dass die Umstände des Lebens dem Schicksal geschuldet sind, während mir nichts ohne den souveränen Willen meines Gottes geschieht.
Beginnen wir jeden Tag mit diesem Gedanken, der uns einfällt: Gott ist in allem, was mir widerfahren wird, gegenwärtig. Lasst uns den Herrn bitten: “Lass mich deine Freundlichkeit am Morgen hören”. Dann den ganzen Tag lang: “Lass mich wissen, wie ich gehen muss” (Psalm 143, 8).
